Our ranching area has large table tops, rolling hills and beautiful meadows. This unspoiled landscape lends to some unforgettable horseback riding. We are able to utilize this opportunity to train and work our horses with real on-the-job training. Corral work, opening and closing gates let our horses enjoy their job and learn to stop, wait and listen. All of this is relevant later when you then ask them to perform in competition. Roping cattle helps a horse learn to rate and position themselves. Horses perform much better if you get them outside our arena and put them in situations that are not perfect. They learn that no matter what the situation, they have a job. The mechanics horses learn when doing ranchwork translate to a rodeo arena's barrel racing and rodeo competition.
